The Heart is a Lonely Hunter (movie)

 This movie was recommended to me by a patron. Alan Arkin's plays a deaf-mute during the civlil rights era who changes everyone's life he touches. All of these people find comfort from Singer but are unable to return it, partly because of the communication gap and partly because of their own problems. A surprise gem of a movie, now I must read the book!
