Virtual Reality is at GCLD!


Get ready to experience the latest technology craze - Virtual Reality! VR is a new technology that's fun for gaming, creating music or traveling to new worlds - all without leaving your library. Sign up for a 25 minute slot to complete a basic Virtual Reality tutorial and try an application or two. This program is designed for those new to VR. All equipment and instruction is provided. 6th grade and older only.

What is Virtual Reality?

Virtual Reality is a three-dimensional, computer generated environment which can be explored and interacted with by a person using a computer, headset, sensors and hand controllers. The user becomes a part of the virtual world or is immersed within the environment and while there is able to interact with and manipulate the environment.

What will I be able to do with VR at the library?

Explore: Experience our planet like you never have before! Travel around the world, to distant planets and even back in time while never leaving the library.

Learn: Discover more about oceans, outer space or the human body

Create: Create unique works of art in a 3D canvas.

Play: VR takes sport to the next level by immersing you in a 3D environment.

Important Details

• All customers must sign a waiver and receive training before use.

• The HTC Vive was not design to be used by children. You must be 6th grade or older.

• For some, the use of Virtual Reality equipment can cause dizziness and disorientation. Those prone to motion sickness should take care when using the equipment.

How do I get started?

1 Sign a waiver acknowledging the rules, terms and conditions for using the system.

2. Book a 25 minute basic training session at the Kremmling Library [(970) 724-9228) or Hot Sulphur Library [(970) 725-3942] to walk you through the experience. Or sign up online at http://gcldco.evanced.info/signup/list.

You will be shown how the system works, how to use the equipment, safety related information and given the opportunity to try some apps.
