adult summer reading logoSummer Reading is not just for kids.

"Escape the Ordinary" and join the Adult Summer Reading Program running from June 7th to August 8th.

Challenge yourself by reading something different this summer. Try books on a different theme, a new author or explore new hobbies and interests. Experiment with downloading  e-books and audiobooks or take an online course.

It’s Easy and Fun!  Pick up a Summer Reading bingo card from your nearest GCLD library branch. Complete any row, column or diagonal on the reading card.  When you are finished, return your card to the library and your name will be entered into the drawing for the District-wide Grand Prize, a Kindle Voyage, courtesy of The Friends of Grand County Library. The winner will be announced by August 31st.

Phillip DaumStop by the Fraser Valley Library and enjoy the "Stuff I Made" art show presented by Phillip Daum on Thursday, June 4th, starting at 7:30 pm or any time during the month of June.

"Stuff I Made" is Phillip's first solo exhibition. These pieces have two distinct purposes. To make him feel good, which is also part of his process, and to make others feel good when they view them. Some pieces come from distinct places within him, and some he is not so sure about. It is his hope that viewers of his work will gain something positive from it.

Weekly Series: The Practicing Photographer from lynda.com

Ben Long, instructor of Practicing Photographer

Here's how we want it to work. Every week you'll watch one of these very short, self contained episodes and at the end of it you're going to have something that you can actually go practice. Sometimes it's going to be an actual shooting assignment so that you can come into a location like this and get better images. At other times, it's going to maybe be something to think about, or something to research. So you can, perhaps get some gear that's more appropriate for the way that you're shooting. Or, learn a new post-production technique.

Whatever it is, it doesn't matter what order you watch these in.  They're all self-contained so you can pick and choose, and watch them in any order.  Login to lynda.com and watch one episode.
