Computer Services
- Computers with high-speed Internet access are available to the public.
- Computer use is free and is available on a first-come, first-served basis and is limited to 30 minutes if other people are waiting.
- A low vision computer station is available in each library.
- Wireless Internet access is available at all of our libraries.

Internet Use Guidelines
- All public access computers filter pornography websites. View the Children's Internet Protection Act
- The Internet offers access to many valuable local, national and international sources of information.
- The Internet is a fluid environment with the content and format of information constantly changing.
- Information on the Internet may be inaccurate, incomplete, dated, or offensive to some individuals. Users must evaluate the validity and appropriateness of information found.
- Users should be aware that the Internet is not a secure medium and that third parties may be able to obtain information regarding users’ activities. However, the Library will not release information on the use of specific Internet resources by members of the public except as required by law or necessary for the proper operation of the Library.
Guidelines for Families
Parents or legal guardians must assume responsibility for deciding what library resources are appropriate for their own children. Some Internet information may be inappropriate for children. The Library encourages parents to spend time online with their children to discuss the wealth of information available and how it should be used. To assist parents, the Library has available online and printed materials about the Internet and its resources. Parents are encouraged to review this material with their children.

Study Rooms: The Fraser Valley Library has two small study rooms and a larger conference room that are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Meeting Room Use: A Community Room is available for public use at the Kremmling Library. Please read our Meeting Room Use Policy. Call the Kremmling Library at 724-9228 to request a day/time.
The Urban Community Meeting Room and the related equipment are available for public use at the Fraser Valley Library from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day. Library programs take precedence in the room. Room capacity is 60 people. Please read our Meeting Room Use Policy before requesting a day/time.

Library Cards
Library cards are free to Grand County residents, property owners, or Colorado Library Card holders. Temporary and out-of-state residents may also obtain a library card. Please see Requirements to Obtain a Library Card or ask library staff for details. Click here to print a library card application.
How to check out materials
Present your library card along with the items you wish to check out. There is no limit. You may check out as many items as you wish.
Checkout length
3weeks for adult fiction and nonfiction, children's books, books on CD or books on tape
1 week for videos, music and magazines
1 day for reference material
Renewing items (extending the due date)
Library materials may be renewed once, unless another library user has requested them. You may renew items by phone, by e-mail, in person at any Grand County Library location, or at www.gcld.org
Fines & Fees
There is a replacement fee of $2.00 for lost or stolen library cards.
Overdue fines are $.20 per day per item on most materials. Fines for reference materials are $1.00 per day per item. Seniors 65 and over are exempt from paying fines.
Returning Items
Grand County and Colorado library materials may be returned to any of the five branches or placed in the library book drops and at the Winter Park post office, Safeway and City Market book drops.
Placing Holds
If you would like to obtain an item that is checked out or is housed at another Grand County Library branch, you may place a "hold" on that item through the library's online catalog. You can now go to Marmot Global and place a hold on books in other Marmot Libraries. Ask your librarian for more information. You will be notified by telephone when the item arrives.
Interlibrary Loan
Interlibrary Loan is a gateway to the world of information. If an item is not available from a Grand County library it may be borrowed from a library outside of Grand County through the free Interlibrary Loan Service. Please ask a librarian for details. CLC and the Colorado Statewide Courier Service
Thanks to the Colorado Library Card Program and the Colorado Statewide Library Courier Service, you may borrow books at one library and return them to any other participating library across the state. If you use this service, allow up to five days of travel time by courier. Items are not checked in until they reach the lending library.

Book Kits: Perfect for book clubs or to share at work, each kit includes 10 copies of a popular read, a copy on cassette or CD, and a list of book discussion questions, all in a duffel bag for easy transport.
Visitors’ Collection: A collection of paperback books and magazines are available to non-library card holders for check out based on the honor system. Please ask for details.
Granby: Special services include the ability to view Grand County newspapers on microfilm. Reels contain newspapers from 1882 to 2002, and the cost is 10 cents per page to print.

Wireless Internet Access
The Grand County Library District offers FREE wireless access (aka "hot spots" & "WiFi") for library patrons to use with their own personal laptops and other mobile devices. This access point is unsecured and accessible only during normal library hours. A patron's use of this service is also governed by GCLD's Internet Use Policy.
All users are expected to use the library's wireless access in a legal and responsible manner, consistent with the educational and informational purposes for which it is provided.
Use of GCLD's wireless network is entirely at the risk of the user. The library disclaims all liability for loss of confidential information or damages resulting from that loss. Click here for more wireless internet access information.

Check Out the Music Program
In 2006, a unique partnership began between the Grand County Library District and the Grand County Blues Society. Together, the organizations dreamed the "Check Out the Music Program," which provides guitars, basses, keyboards, and drumpads for check out. Children and adult library card holders can take home these instruments for up to 6 weeks at a time. Instructional materials, such as books, videos, and Classic Blues and Folk Music performance DVDs, supplement the exploration of musical talents. The Grand County Blues Society also offers free monthly guitar lessons to aspiring school-aged musicians, check at your local library. |
