Being born in the Bronx, New York gave me the early advantage of being able to enjoy walking through Saint Mary’s park to the library. As the trees grew and the color of the leaves change over the years, so did my ability to read, taste in books and love of reading grow too. This pass time led me to choose to study English Literature at the University of Denver with a minor in Education. After years as an English teacher, I moved to upstate New York and had the opportunity to attend Syracuse University where I graduated with a Masters of Library Science.
Though the Degree says MLS, the title of a school librarian is Library Media Specialist. A title that blends the service of bringing both printed material and digital information to students. As as Trustee of the Grand County Library System I hope to bring both these disciplines to bear on advancing our Community Libraries. It will be my mission to support existing library programs, promote literacy, and make sure our libraries have the staff, print and technological resources necessary to keep our Patrons well informed. Advancing their interests and careers.
I feel lucky to reside in Grand Lake, and have two grown sons. One is an avid reader of Sci-Fi and the other prefers Non-Fiction. My partner, Bill and I enjoy skiing, golf, the theater, and how nice it is to be welcomed and accepted into the Grand County community.
